FAQ
What's your approach to photographing a wedding?
My goal is a stress-free experience for my clients. A wedding day, especially before the ceremony, can feel a little stressful at times and if that happens, no one needs a demanding photographer hurrying them along.
I use the skills I've developed over the years as a photojournalist to capture real moments, without intruding to stage photos. Not only because this makes for authentic photos, but my clients aren't distracted or stressed out by the process and that really comes through in the photos too. I always take some posed photos. These are really important and posed photos of the couple are often some of the best photos of the day. But I do everything I can to keep the experience easy and fun.
When will we get our photos?
Your will receive a 50 photo preview no later than 2 weeks after the wedding and the full gallery of photos within 8 weeks (sometimes less depending on the season.) You can download all the photos from the gallery but also share them, choose your favorites, and also order prints.
Where are you based and do you travel?
I''m based in Western, Massachusetts and I love to travel! I do charge $50 per hour for travel (first 30 minutes at no charge.) If your event requires a hotel stay and air travel, no problem. Prices vary from place to place of course, so please contact me for details.
How many pictures will we receive?
You'll receive about 100 edited images per hours of photography. I try to eliminate redundant images so that you see all the best images, but aren't overwhelmed with choices either.
Do you bring a second photographer?
Most of the time I work alone and for most weddings, that works well. However, some weddings are larger and more elaborate and a second photographer can be a big help. Sometimes one half of the couple is getting ready miles away from the other and a second photographer can be really helpful in those cases as well.
Do you take any posed photos?
Of course! There are certain images, like portraits and family groups that require posing and staging. I really enjoy this part, especially the portraits, I just try to limit this to a short time (usually 45-60 minutes total for portraits, wedding party and family groups.)
Will 6 hours be enough time?
Generally speaking, no. In most cases, 6 hours is only enough to cover the ceremony and some of the reception. This means no coverage of getting ready and no detail shots - like the dress on a hanger, jewelry and invitation (a "lay-flat" arrangement.)
But I keep this option available for couples that are having shorter weddings or really don't want the getting ready coverage and details. In my experience, 8 hours is usually a good fit and 10 hours allows for a more relaxed schedule and complete coverage. Highly recommended if the budget allows!
