Headshot FAQ:
What to expect: My goal is a quick and painless experience for my clients. I’m well aware that most people do not love sitting for a photographer (I don’t either!) I’ll do everything I can to put you at ease so we can get some good authentic looking portraits in a short amount of time. You’ll be able to view your photos on the spot. I include basic retouching - subtly smoothing skin, removing blemishes, and brightening eyes and teeth. I don’t overdo the retouching because that can look unnatural.
What's your headshot style? Depending on your line of work, you might want a casual and natural looking shot. Some folks might need a more formal looking headshot. We can do both! It would be helpful to prioritize our time though and make sure you get what you need. If the more formal looking shot is most important, let’s start there.
What do I wear??? Bring a couple of options. Sometimes it’s easiest to wear a favorite top or shirt, take some photos, and then throw on a blazer or sport coat for a little more formal look. You’re welcome to change outfits more than once, but keep in mind that does limit our shooting and reviewing time. Feeling comfortable is key. It really comes through in the photos. That’s why I generally recommend wearing a favorite item from your wardrobe over wearing something new purchased just for the shoot. Avoid patterns: Overly busy patters are not great for photos, be it a jacket, shirt/blouse. Bright or busy jackets, shirts or blouses will distract the viewers eye from the face in a finished portrait.
A note about Covid safety: I'll only have one client in the studio at a time. Please wear a mask when you arrive. When we’re ready to shoot you can take it off. I will wear a mask at all times and keep my distance as much as possible. I’ll regularly sanitize surfaces and provide hand sanitizer as well. Once we’re done shooting, I’ll have you put your mask back on so that we can review the images.
